Silly but fun, this sequel to Clint Eastwood's phenomenally successful Every Which Way But Loose, finds Philo Beddoe (Eastwood) in the process of retiring from bare-knuckle brawling. The mob, however, has a different idea, offering Philo big bucks to participate in one last fight against his old nemesis, Jack Wilson (William Smith). Philo is unable to resist the challenge, but even if he were, the gangsters have kidnapped his girlfriend to make sure the fight goes on!

- The title song, sung by Glen Campbell, was a hit and helped promote the film on country radio.
- The film was the directorial debut of Buddy Van Horn, previously a stuntman and second-unit director.
- A replacement had to be found for Manis, the original Clyde, as he had grown too much in the two years since the first film.
- On the soundtrack album Eastwood sang a duet with Ray Charles, "Beers to You".
